After a thorough examination of your gums and teeth, we’ll determine if a dental crown or bridge is the right solution for you. If it is, the next step involves applying a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort while we prepare your teeth to support the restoration.

Next, we will take digital impressions of your teeth so that your crown fits perfectly with the rest of your smile. These impressions are sent to a skilled lab technician who will carefully go over the info to create your custom restoration. While your permanent crown is being created, we’ll fit you with a temporary one to protect your teeth and gums. Once the final restoration is ready, you will come back to our office, and we can really get to restoring your smile and bite. What does getting porcelain veneers involve?

Getting veneers is a simple process that usually takes two visits. Most of the time, you won’t need any anesthesia. During the first visit, your dentist will gently shape the surface of your teeth to make room for the veneers. Then, they’ll take an impression of your teeth to ensure a perfect fit. You’ll also choose the shade that best matches your smile.

At your second visit, your teeth will be carefully cleaned to create a strong bond. The veneers are placed using a special dental cement, then set with a light that hardens everything in place. Before you leave, you’ll get easy-to-follow care instructions. Keeping your teeth and gums clean and healthy is an important part of the process. Brushing and flossing every day along with regular dental checkups will help your veneers last for years.

3 Types of Dental Crowns

There are three types of dental crowns that we provide. The crown type you need depends on cosmetic goals, daily habits, financial restrictions, and current oral health conditions.

1. Porcelain dental crowns, including CEREC® and Zirconia crowns, have been shown to be of comparable strength to full gold crowns and are the most aesthetically pleasing and natural-looking crowns.
2. Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns are more durable than pure porcelain while retaining a natural aesthetic. Consequently, these are the most commonly applied dental crowns.
3. Gold dental crowns are still used under specific circumstances. Due to their color, patients are hesitant to have gold dental crowns placed on their teeth. However, they provide the greatest longevity and durability, making them an ideal solution for patients who grind and clench their teeth.
